ART'OP - An interactive sound kiosk
Imagine a visit to a cultural site that is truly independent and interactive
for the visitor. ART'OP is a product that avoids the usual pitfalls
of traditional kiosks, such as repeating messages and predictability,
to interact with the visitor.
ART'OP can be used to create interactive discovery trails that encourage
the active involvement of the visitor. The visitor moves around the
site freely, carrying with them a small transponder that will automatically
trigger the sound kiosks to play upon their arrival. The kiosks will
not play the same commentary twice for the same visitor and the commentary
heard will be influenced by the kiosks already visited within the site.
In this way the commentaries are adapted to each visitor personally
and follow a logical path. The commentaries can also be programmed
to be specific the type of visitor, i.e. programs designed for children.
Based on a kiosk and a transponder
The sound kiosk itself is very small, and can be lodged within a multitude
of different objects, for example: a sound post, a sculpture, an animal
on display, a tree etc. The sound kiosks are designed to function indoors
and outdoors.
The transponder is inserted within an object (bracelet, wand, badge,
swipe card, etc.) to make the system uninstrusive and also invisible
to the user. The visitor has only to approach the object of sound and
it begins to speak.
